Default Advice needed for necro!

Hello I have a Necro lvl 20 that has finished Factions. It's one of my first chars created in the game and I know she is not as good as she could be. I have her as a blood necro but most of my fellow players advice me to make her death. I started prophecies yesterday with her because most of the good elite and normal skills are there. It's a quite complex character and I don't know how to make her fight better. I'm thinking about deleting and re creating her but it would be a pity. Any advice on how will she be able to perform in Prophecies? Currently I'm at Aurora Glade and moving on!

While death is certainly powerful, curses is probably the most interesting of the batch for a human player.

And you don't need to re-create your character to make her better!! This is guild wars!!!

One of the most dominating skills for necromancer in curses is [[Enfeebling blood].

I would go with a bar like [Enfeebling Blood][Barbs][Splinter weapon][Signet of Lost souls][Necrosis][Defile Enchantment][Shadow of Fear] or [Reckless haste][Flesh of my flesh].

When you can get [Spiteful Spirit]. Other alternative is drop [Splinter weapon] or [Defile enchantments] and use [discord] til you get [Spiteful Spirit], but with necrosis there is no point to. BTW, both necrosis and signet of lost souls are in the begging of NF.

[great dwarf weapon] over [splinter weapon]

[defile enchantments]Is a waste of a slot that could be better used: [pain inverter][mark of pain] <insert something else with far greater benefit>

[necrosis]Is never that great on it's own (Potentially at all)

[reckless haste] over [shadow of fear]

Don't forget, stuff like: [ebon vanguard assassin support] + [mark of pain] tear PvE apart.

Blood builds look good but straight damage does better than degen in most cases though Spoil Victor and Well of Power are pretty good skills.

Death builds are ok the standard one being a Minion master, they don't require much thought so get a little boring over time.
Most of Prophesies can be done with a death build some of the other campaigns can work against minion armies leaving you with just the life stealing skills.

I agree about Curses its probably the best of the Necro skill lists.
Calista has given you some good build ideas, some skills will be unavailable unless you have Eye and build up the appropriate ranks to gain the skills.

Blood is seldom worthwhile. Lifesteal skills are crap currently and I can't see A Net making any attempt to improve them - usually it's just nerfs for various PvP gimmicks. If you want damage from blood, take [Spoil Victor] and a load of Curses skills. For party support, things like [Blood is Power] [Order of Pain] and [Dark Fury] are good ones.

Death Magic has a few uses - it's nice to be able to run a MM build, but other than that, there really isn't much. [Discord] is nice, but is usually better run with heroes with the human player priming it (setting up the necessary conditions for 3 necro heroes to spam Discord).

Curses is the best line for a necromancer. It contains the stupidly powerful [Mark of Pain], along with some very nice skills.
[Enfeebling Blood] is very handy - good to stop physicals hurting you so much.
[Spiteful Spirit] is a nice solid elite - not necessarily ideal but a good thing to have.
[Mark of Pain] - should always be carried on a curses necro - you have no excuse for not bringing it.
[Barbs] - handy damage dealer when a target comes under attack.
[Reckless Haste] - useful synergy with SS, increases enemy attack speed and miss chance.

As you have Factions, I'd also recommend getting [Assassin's Promise]. With that, you can efficiently prime Discord heroes or run a MoP nuke:
[Assassin's Promise][Mark of Pain][Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support][Rigor Mortis][Barbs]
Without EotN, you'll have to cope without a lot of PvE skills though, so some of these builds will be impossible to run. Others, you may have to adjust slightly and use a less than optimal version.

There is absolutely no reason to delete your character. All her stats and skills can be changed at any time in town - that's the wonderful thing about Guild Wars.

I bet that for someone that just finished factions and started prophecies the skills I said are easier to get.

But if we are talking about PvE only skills [[Finish Him] and [[You move like a dwarf] seem better than [[Pain Inverter].

What you said is true, a Necro is a complicated profession and all the advices above will help. here is my 2 cents.

1- Necro is mainly a support class.
2- Necro is amont the most versatile profession once you know how to work with it.
3- All 3 Death,Curses,Blood are powerfull in specific situation so you need to know the game to know which of the 3 is more appropriate.
4- like with any other class..test and learn, the more you try different things the more you will learn be patient.
5- in PvE... never deleat a character, use it as storage if you dont like that profession...never know when you will need a lvl20... you might like it later

I would pay attention to what Calista said. However, i fail to understand how you say Necrosis is bad, even on its own its 90 dmg every couple seconds. Its Discord on steroids. Could you please elaborate?

[you move like a dwarf][ebon vanguard assassin support][finish him]
Kd-cripple-kd-cracked armor-deep wound-dead

All of this which semi supports [[discord] and fuels [[mark of pain] / [[barbs] targets. Far overshadows [necrosis] in every way and makes better use of limited PvE slots.

Shouldn't forget [assassins promise] either

Death magic if you want an unintelligence minion spam build that a hero could run without micro.

Blood magic if you want super weak, but unprottable!!11 damage. (or bip spam suicide)

Curses if you want to use overpowered skills to be overpowered. (if there isn't mass hex removal)

Soul reaping for endless amount of energy.

Calista is right. Also with AP you can afford to bring more powerful PvE skills, even though they have a longer recharge, than Necrosis.

Ok that makes sense. Although its great on my SS build, ultimately the AP build is better so it doesnt really even matter.

I move on capturing the elite skills at Prophecies but playing a necro is quite complicated indeed! My next capture is Spiteful Spirit and I'm glad because I want this skill. My secondary profession is Monk so it helps with the health renewal a bit!
